Marcellus Shale Collaborative Exploitation Project
The Marcellus CEP is a multi-operator collaborative reservoir characterization project designed to provide best practices for data gathering, well spacing, completions and ultimately turning shale resources into bookable reserves. The project scope has been specifically designed to meet the challenges of drilling in the Marcellus shale.
With multiple operators in this shale producing hugely variable IPs and EURs using a variety of completions design and well configurations, identifying the best way to drill and complete a Marcellus shale well is still in a very primordial stage. The situation is further complicated by limited frac water availability, pipeline constraints and growing environmental concerns. There is, however, enormous collective experience in the Marcellus when the operators pool their knowledge. Thus the ultimate goal of the Marcellus CEP:
Using combined knowledge, in conjunction with ground-breaking Resolve™ modeling technology and the Dynamic Reservoir Characterization™ process, Object Reservoir will develop best practices for the rapid monetization of your Marcellus Shale acreage.
The Marcellus CEP will deliver:
- Best Practices for data gathering, well spacing, completion design, fracture design, and reserves estimation and bookings (provided by DeGolyer and MacNaughton)
- Suite of models, results and shared participant data, including well design data, production history, core data etc. shared with all participants via a completely secure collaborative workspace
- Complete Dynamic Reservoir Characterization™, modeling, EUR and completion and frac analysis work for each well submitted using cutting edge Resolve™ technology
- Delivery of recommendations for drilling better wells sooner
- A 12 month lease of Saige™, the Resolve™ engine powered shale gas modeling application
The Project
- 12 month initial study scheduled to commence March 2010
- Final Report for Participants will be issued 12 months after the commencement date
- Minimum of 5 Participants by April 30th, 2010
- 3 wells per Participant (at least one must be horizontal)
