Saige

Saige™, powered by the finite element Resolve™ engine, is the only modeling technology built specifically for the challenges of modeling in unconventional and shale resources.  Resolve uses the finite element method with adaptive meshing capability that can conform to reservoir geometries and automatically scale to the resolution needed. Using an unstructured 4-D mesh gives a combination of speed and realism unavailable in other tools. In extremely low permeability reservoirs, adequate numerical resolution around a fracture face is required to capture the non-linear pressure profile.

By understanding near well transients, Saige allows the ability to model complex fracture geometries in multiple stage horizontal wells. The ability to understand the drainage between and around the fractures, both individually and as a complete system within the reservoir, enables operators to optimize the field development. Saige saves time and streamlines workflows by eliminating the need for user-intensive grid refinement studies. Because of its unstructured automatic finite element mesh, Saige is inherently more accurate than traditional modeling tools. Leveraging the most recent developments in computer hardware advancement, such as quad-core parallel processing, Saige will:

  • Accurately represent complex completion geometries and model drainage from right up to the individual completion face and out to the reservoir
  • Distinguish between completion and reservoir behavior
  • Accurately capture pressure transient information at the completion and in the reservoir – Resolution in time and space
